Competitive starting salary range from £44,965 up to £51,314 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

The Role

 

As Senior Teaching Fellow in Mental Health Nursing you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. Senior Teaching Fellows lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams.

 

Based within the School of Health and Care you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.

 

Duties include:

 

  • Leading the curation, adaptation, design and development of module and course teaching materials and you will also be expected to contribute to ongoing Curriculum Development.
  • Leading moderation and quality assurance of appropriate module assessment. Marking, including the oversight of marking teams; submission and upload of student marks within stipulated turn round periods and supporting colleagues in the presentation of data and information at appropriate meetings and committees as required.
  • The preparation and dissemination of both generic and specific formative and summative student feedback. On at least an annual basis to review assessment and feedback processes and student communication loops on modules.
  • Participating in, and potentially taking a lead in course recruitment activities: Promote the Mental Health Nursing programme to potential applicants through various platforms such as open days, webinars and social media, provide information and advice to prospective students on the entry requirements, course structure and career prospects, and assist with the selection and admission process.
  • Both working with and leading other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.
  • Acting a module leader and/or course director where required and appropriate, including the creation of required supporting module material and oversight and coordination of team teaching and support activities
  • The development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning. The development and enhancement of an ‘active learning’ pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area.

Qualifications Required

 

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate subject (if from a professional practice background) OR a good Honours Degree and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
  • A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education
  • PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous
  • A current and active NMC Registration is essential for this role​​​​​​​

Our Successful Candidate

 

You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Mental Health Nursing with the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.

 

An experienced team leader with good level of digital fluency, you will have experience using creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching using a VLE.

 

Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience in the development and enhancement of an ‘active learning’ pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area.

 

As a global education provider, high levels of cultural awareness with experience of learner’s cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
