Our dedicated Lecturer team are subject specialists focused on delivering student education, which is active, social, applied, and inclusive within our vibrant and varied education environment.
The Role
The School of Social Sciences and Humanities is looking to recruit a full-time Lecturer (Teaching) in Psychology to join our dynamic and innovative academic team. The post requires a passion for teaching of this subject area coupled with a preferred expertise in one of more of the following areas: forensic psychology, child development/educational psychology, counselling psychology, sports and exercise psychology
The successful candidate will contribute to courses in the Psychology subject cluster. This includes a suite of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. There will be opportunities to shape this provision and develop the portfolio of courses as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary subject team.
You will have responsibility for the development, preparation and delivery of teaching, learning and assessment both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including module leadership where appropriate while contributing to the development, organisation and management of the curriculum to include international and intercultural experiences.
Qualifications Required
- Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or Honours Degree with appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
- A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held
- PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous

You will demonstrate good practice in teaching, learning and assessment through use of a wide range of learning resources and appropriate pedagogic practice, you will ensure that teaching is informed by contemporary research and develops the ability of students to engage in debate, critical discourse, and rational thinking.
Contributing to the wider student experience through a wide range of approaches, this role will also undertake scholarly activity, as appropriate, and assist with the development of external partnerships both in the UK and overseas.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience supporting, enhancing and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy with evidence in proactively supporting student success.
As a global education provider, experience and awareness of learners cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential. Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
