Competitive starting salary range from £24,391 - £26,706  pro rata/per annum (dependant upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered.

This role is based within Coventry University Corporate Services, a sister company of Coventry University and part of the Coventry University Group.  

The Role

 

 

As part of the delivery of the 2030 strategy, the Group Policy Unit focuses on influencing and informing relevant politicians, policy makers and enabling organisations about the strengths of the Group as well as on informing the Group Leadership about key policy drivers and their implications for the higher education sector.

 

Working within the Group Policy Unit, the Policy Officer will co-ordinate Group responses to government inquiries and calls for contributions from relevant sector organisations. The post also offers an excellent opportunity to support the development of effective relationships externally and to build new relevant communities of interest internally.

Our Successful Candidate

 

The successful candidate will have experience of administering effective internal relationships and external relationships in support of senior colleagues, experience of co-ordinating and producing formal documents and be educated to degree level or equivalent. The successful candidate will also have an interest in and appreciation of the Westminster policy making process, with knowledge of local political stakeholders being an advantage. 

 

The post holders will be able to undertake desk-based research, have excellent writing and communication skills as well as a keen understanding of the potential political sensitivities of the work.

 

The key to successful delivery of the role will be the ability to work cooperatively within the wider Vice-Chancellor’s Office and across a number of virtual teams, working and communicating effectively with a broad range of individuals and organisations.

 

Due to annual leave within the team, the successful candidate would be asked to take up the post on 3rd November.
