Competitive starting salary range from £31,792 up to £35,937 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

The School of Health and Care delivers an extensive range of undergraduate and post graduate courses for professionals working in health and social care settings including; nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, paramedic science, operating department practice, diagnostic radiography, clinical psychology and public health. We also have a large portfolio of CPD courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including Advanced Clinical Practice, Independent prescribing and Global Healthcare Management.

The Role

 

As an Assistant Lecturer in Adult Nursing you will undertake teaching and assessments across our Nursing course portfolio, supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience.

 

Based within the School of Health and Care you will work closely with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.

 

Duties include:

 

Leading the curation, adaptation, design and development of course teaching materials. 


Teaching on modules and courses at HE levels 4, 5, 6 and 7 in relevant academic subject areas.


Supporting the design, implementation, ratification and quality assurance processes related to student assessment.  


Upholding high standards of academic integrity in all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment


The preparation and dissemination of both generic and specific formative and summative student feedback. 


Supporting our delivery of simulated practice learning activities. 


Undertaking the role of Academic Assessor 


Supporting course recruitment activities such as interviews and open days.

 

The development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning. 

 

The development and enhancement of an active learning pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area.

Qualifications Required

     

  •         NMC Registration in Adult Nursing (Current and Active) is essential for this role.
  •         An Honours Degree in an appropriate/ relevant subject area with professional qualification.
  •         A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held
  •         A PhD, or a Master's Degree would be advantageous.

You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching, supervsion and assessment of Adult Nursing learners either within higher education levels 4-7 or within clinical practice. 

 

You will be able to demonstrate your high standards of teaching, learning and student engagement and flare for teaching innovation consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.

 

You will have a passion for sharing knowledge and supporting students in their learning journey, both in clinical practice and in the classroom, with the ability to work flexibly to meet learner needs. 

 

Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience supporting, enhancing and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy with evidence in proactively supporting student success.

 

You will have an active working knowledge of how Adult Nursing students are assessed in clinical practice. 

 

You will have an understanding of the NMC Standards of Proficiency for Nursing.
