Salary
Competitive starting salary range from £32,942 up to £37,087 (dependent on experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered.

The Role

 

As an Assistant Lecturer (Teaching) in Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security based within the College of Environment, Engineering and Science you will support teaching, curriculum development, and course co-ordination while supporting and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and other core activities.


Assisting in teaching on modules and courses at Higher Education levels 4, 5, 6 and 7 in relevant academic subject areas, you will deliver a variety of types of student learning sessions including small group teaching and marking. Supporting students as appropriate through both informal and formal communication throughout teaching semesters students have an effective learning experience.


Duties include:

Qualifications Required

 

•    Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate subject OR (if from a professional practice background) a good Honours Degree and appropriate progress to an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership.
•    Master’s degree in an appropriate subject, PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous.
•    Willingness to acquire a teaching qualification if not already held.

You will have the ability to demonstrate best practice in teaching, learning and assessment along with high standards in engagement consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.

 

A strong communicator with excellent digital proficiency, you will have experience using Aula or other forms of communication to deliver student communications, assurance of timely and accurate information and high standard teaching material. Experience facilitating excellent academic working relationships to foster student academic cohesion and a sense of academic community and belonging is required.

 

Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have a demonstrated interest in Cyber Security and experience supporting, enhancing, and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy. As a strong communicator with excellent digital proficiency, you will use platforms like Aula to deliver high-standard teaching materials while proactively supporting student success and fostering a sense of academic community.
