This role is based within CU Corporate Services Limited, a sister company of Coventry University and part of the Coventry University Group.

The Role

 

We are recruiting an Assistant Procurement & Contract Officer to join our busy Procurement Team to support the Estates and Facilities provision of the group. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting high-quality, cost-effective procurement and contract management services across the Coventry University Group. You will ensure that all procurement activity complies with Financial Procedures, Financial Regulations, the Procurement Strategy, and relevant UK legislation.


You will be responsible for providing support to obtain and evaluate exception forms, quotations and raising orders, whilst providing advice and guidance on commercial terms and contracts to the business. Supporting the Senior Category Manager and the Procurement and Contract Officer in the Estates and Facilities team, you will assist in the management and delivery of project with varying levels of risk and value. You will also manage and maintain the contract and asset management databases, this will include all related contracts, licences, maintenance agreements and service level agreements, along with supplier performance monitoring.


Engaging with suppliers and stakeholders, you will provide guidance on commercial terms and promoting best practice purchasing procedures. You will also proactively review processes and procedures, making suggestions in order to improve services and relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.

Our Successful Candidate

 

You will have a good general level of education to A-Level standard or equivalent or will have relevant previous work experience.  You will also hold or be wording towards a MCIPS (Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply).


From previous roles you will have demonstrable procurement experience and extensive experience and knowledge of software licensing agreements. Experience within the public sector, education or a complex organisation would be advantageous.


You will have worked with large spreadsheets and databases, you will also have working knowledge of hardware and software asset management systems. 


Customer service experience and communication skills are essential for this role as on a day-to-day basis you will manage customer queries and provide advice and guidance as and when required.


Working knowledge of using financial management systems and within an computer support environment would be advantageous.
