The Role
As an Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Occupational Therapy you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, direct entry, and apprenticeship programs and other core activities, ensuring students have an effective learning experience. You will also lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams.
Based within the School of Health and Care, you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.
Duties include:
• Course coordination as appropriate to the role.
• Leading the curation, adaptation, design, and development of module and course teaching materials and contributing to ongoing curriculum development.
• Teaching on modules and courses at Higher Education levels 4-7, and leading teams of teaching staff.
• Leading moderation and quality assurance of appropriate module assessment.
• Line management.
Qualifications Required
• You must be an occupational therapist with current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Master’s degree in an appropriate subject OR (if from a professional practice background) a good Honours Degree and appropriate professional qualification and membership
• A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education
Our Successful Candidate
You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at Higher Education levels 4-7 in Occupational Therapy with the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.
An experienced team leader with good level of digital fluency, you will have experience using and creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching using a Virtual Learning Environment.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience in the development and enhancement of an ‘active learning’ pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area.
As a global education provider, high levels of cultural awareness with experience of learner’s cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to generate and follow through innovative ideas, work both independently and as part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
