The Role

 

As Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Clinical Psychology you will be part of a team providing high quality education and supervision to the trainees on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate ensuring the students have an effective learning experience.  You will have an essential role and contribution to all aspects of the programme including:  
 
•    Delivering engaging and comprehensive teaching and tutorials 
•    Developing and contributing to course materials, assessments, and programme development 
•    Oversight and leadership of modules and marking of assignments 
•    Offering academic support and mentorship to trainees through the provision of individual and group supervision 
•    Acting as appraisal tutor for trainees’ clinical placements and practical work 
•    A member of the team dedicated to the admissions and selection of high-quality trainee clinical psychologists.  


The programme is based in the School of Health and Care. The successful candidate will join a School dedicated to excellence and innovative education, becoming part of a team committed to providing the best possible experience for trainees. You will work with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in the programme and modules.
 

Whilst this role is advertised as full time, we are able to consider candidates looking for part time hours for this position. We welcome applications from candidates seeking both part time or full time hours.

Qualifications Required

  • Hold a DClinPsy or equivalent qualification and be HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical Psychologist). 
  • A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education 
  • Expertise in any specialty or theoretical model will be considered, with additional accreditations or certifications being advantageous. 
  • PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous

Our Successful Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who has a broad range of experience of working in clinical settings and demonstrable experience of successful teaching in higher education or supervising clinical psychology trainees in practice.  You will have expertise in doctoral-level supervision, along with exceptional communication, organisational, and leadership skills. 
 
Applicants should possess a strong level of digital fluency and experience in using and creating engaging teaching materials across various media. Enthusiastic and self-motivated, we are looking for candidates who have the ability to work with sensitive information and exceptional knowledge of the theory and practice of psychological therapies.
