The Role
As an Assistant Professor in Pharmacy, you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. Senior Teaching Fellows lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams.
Based on-site at Coventry University in Coventry, you will work closely with academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.
Duties include:
• Lead and teach on modules and courses at HE levels 4-7 in relevant academic subject areas including curation, adaptation and creation of module teaching materials, delivering a variety of types of students learning sessions and supporting students as appropriate through informal and formal communication throughout teaching blocks.
• Leading on the design, implementation, ratification and quality assurance processes related to student assessment.
• The preparation and dissemination of both generic and specific formative and summative student feedback.
Qualifications Required
• Master’s degree in Pharmacy, and an active registration with the GPhC
• A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education
• PhD and/or other postgraduation clinical qualification, e.g. independent prescribing or Advanced Clinical Practice.
• Active membership of an appropriate professional body (RPS)
Our Successful Candidate
You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Pharmacy with the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.
An experienced team leader with good level of digital fluency, you will have experience using creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching using a VLE.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience in the development and enhancement of an ‘active learning’ pedagogy as appropriate to current Pharmacy practice.
As a global education provider, high levels of cultural awareness with experience of learner’s cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to generate and follow through innovative ideas, work both independently and as part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
