The Role
The Centre for E-Mobility & Clean Growth (CECG) at Coventry University is a leading research and innovation centre focused on advancing electrification technologies and supporting the transition towards net-zero transport and clean growth.
A core part of CECG is the Centre for Advanced Low-carbon Propulsion Systems (C-ALPS), a £50M research facility working closely with the propulsion supply chain to accelerate the development of next-generation low-carbon mobility solutions. C-ALPS is among the most advanced UK facilities of its kind, supporting cutting-edge research, industrial collaboration, and technology development in electrification and propulsion systems.
We are recruiting an Assistant Professor in Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD) to contribute to our internationally recognised research, teaching, and industrial engagement activities in electrification technologies.
The role will involve conducting high-quality research, developing collaborative projects with industry and academic partners, supporting research funding applications, and contributing to the delivery of commercial and externally funded research programmes.
You will take the lead responsibility for research projects of various sizes and play a major part in large research programmes. You will participate in networking to identify and obtain external funding sources and build relationships for future activities.
You will be expected to contribute to postgraduate teaching and PhD supervision, including the development and delivery of research-informed teaching materials, laboratory activities, student assessment, and postgraduate research supervision.
Qualifications Required
We welcome applications from candidates with a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (or closely related discipline), or an MSc degree supported by substantial relevant industrial experience.
Our Successful Candidate
Candidates with expertise in one or more relevant areas including power electronics, electrical machines and drives, motor control, and power systems are encouraged to apply. Experience of working on industry-funded research projects, collaborative R&D programmes, or commercial testing and validation activities would be advantageous.
