The Role

 

Reporting to the Head of Global Tax and Compliance, the Corporation Tax and International Accountant will offer support and deliver mixed tax reporting requirements across the University Group, with an emphasis on direct corporation and international tax compliance.

 

Key responsibilities include: 

 

  • Preparation and submission of Corporate Tax Returns for the University group for review and submission to HMRC. 
  • Support with the management and control of all international reporting, compliance, transfer pricing and double taxation advice required throughout the group. 
  • Assist with the control and delivery of all international information, accounts and support required by UK Indirect tax and finance functions. 
  • To prepare and complete all direct tax reports including reports required by Senior Management Accountants for cash flow forecasting, budgeting and planning and all other accounting requirements (including FRS102, notes to the accounts, etc.).
  • To support the tax team on a variety of tax returns including both direct and indirect taxes.
  • To liaise with colleagues across the University Group to provide the first port of call for general direct and international taxation advice and help, providing a timely response to queries.
  • To prepare accounting reconciliations of the general ledger tax accounts for review and approval by senior tax team colleagues.

Our Successful Candidate

 

You will be a qualified with a CCAB (Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies) accounting qualification and/or relevant experience in Corporation and direct taxes. It would be advantageous if you were a chartered tax advisor (CTA). 

 

You will have experience in preparing and submitting corporation tax returns within the UK and experience of International taxation. It would be advantageous if you had experience within the HE sector and knowledge of other taxes. 

 

You will possess strong numeracy skills with a strong focus on accuracy and detail. Competent IT skills with an excellent working knowledge of excel is a must and the ability to deliver to agreed targets and deadlines. Experience of G/L systems and tax reporting would be advantageous. 

 

You will have the ability to work on your own initiative in a proactive manner and have the ability to work with minimum supervision with the ability to prioritise and make decisions based on clear criteria.
