The Role

 

The role of Insurance Manager is an exciting role for a self-motivated, focused individual wanting to make a significant contribution. As part of the Risk, Operational Assurance and Resilience team you will be responsible for Coventry University Group’s insurance management. You will support senior management in developing an insurance strategy and implementing risk management and contingency strategies.


You will be responsible for producing management information to support the annual insurance renewal process. You will work with the Group’s Estates team to ensure an accurate register of buildings including professional valuations is held and maintained, taking the lead in identifying insurable risk across the University Group both within the UK and overseas, and eliminating, mitigating or transferring the risk through the assessment, placement and negotiation of insurances and alternative risk transfer measures. 

 

You will manage and negotiate on any insurance claims made by the group, including investigating and quantifying the need for a claim, liaising with insurers, lawyers and loss adjusters and meeting with the relevant teams internally to ensure claims are settled efficiently and with the appropriate outcome for the group. 

Our Successful Candidate

 

As the successful candidate, you will be educated to degree level or equivalent or will have relevant industry experience within this field of work. Holding or working towards a Chartered Insurance Institute or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.


You will have insurance experience gained in a similar in-house post or broking environment and the ability to gather and collate information relating to insurance cover, claims management and claims resolution. 


You will be an effective communicator, capable of managing internal and external stakeholders and influencing staff at all levels. You will also be able to provide management information as required to support claims, and internal and external enquiries.

 

Although not essential, experience of investigating incidents and taking the appropriate actions, liaising with insurance brokers and monitoring performance against service level criteria would be advantageous.
