The Role
As a Lecturer in Creative Computing you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience.
Based within the College of Engineering, Environment and Science you will work closely with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.
Duties include:
- Teach on modules and courses at HE levels 4-7 in relevant academic subject areas including curation, adaptation and creation of module teaching materials, delivering a variety of types of students learning sessions and supporting students as appropriate through informal and formal communication throughout teaching semesters.
Qualifications Required
- Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or Honours Degree with appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
- A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held.
Our Successful Candidate
You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Creative Computing with high standards of teaching, learning and student engagement consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong skill set across key areas of Creative Computing, including Visual Effects, Compositing, Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR), Technical Art, User Experience (UX) design and Video Editing. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to integrate creative and technical practices, delivering engaging, industry-relevant content that reflects current trends and workflows within the digital and creative sectors. A programming background would be desirable, particularly where it supports areas such as technical art, interactive experiences or real-time applications.
Applicants should have hands-on experience with industry-standard software and tools, including Blender, Adobe Creative Cloud, Unreal Engine, Figma and Houdini with the ability to apply these within teaching, project supervision and curriculum development. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is required, such as Computing, Interactive Systems, Visual Effects or Compositing or Digital Media, ensuring a strong academic foundation alongside practical expertise.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience supporting, enhancing and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy with evidence in proactively supporting student success.
As a global education provider, experience and awareness of learners cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
