Competitive starting salary range from £38,781 up to £46,026 (dependent on experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered.

The Role

 

As a Lecturer in Social Work you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, apprenticeship and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. 

 

Based within the CU Health and Care you will work closely with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.

 

Duties include:

 

  •  Teach on modules and courses at HE levels 4-7 across the suite of Social Work courses - Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Degree Apprenticeship. This will include curation, adaptation and creation of module teaching materials, delivering a variety of types of students learning sessions and supporting students as appropriate through informal and formal communication throughout teaching semesters
  • Contribute to Curriculum Development drawing on your professional experience within Social Work Supporting with Social Work placements on BA and MA programme
  • Contributing to the Social Work Degree Apprenticeship Programme within specialist areas.

Qualifications Required

 

•    Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or Honours Degree with appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
•    Current Social Work England Registration with post qualifying social work experience.
•    A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held
•    Practice Education qualification and experience would be advantageous (PEPS 2)
•    PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous

Our Successful Candidate

 

 You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Social Work with high standards of teaching, learning and student engagement consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning. 


 You will contribute to our BA and MA Social Work programmes with key responsibility to support practice placements. Previous experience of practice education/ practice learning and an understanding of developments in social work practice education would be advantageous.


 You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to support the coordination and management of social work placements as well as contribute to teaching and administration duties.


 You will have a strong commitment to continuing professional development and to inter-professional social work perspectives.

 

 Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience supporting, enhancing and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy with evidence in proactively supporting student success.
