The Role

As Research Fellow in the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR), you will undertake research and play a lead role in supporting the scientific delivery of the UKRI/ Horizon Europe project ‘PLANET4B’.

PLANET4B provides insight into perceptions, attitudes and behaviour towards biodiversity, seeking to influence the prioritisation of biodiversity decision making across a range of interpersonal and institutional scales. It is centred around eleven sectoral and place-based case studies exploring and encouraging better decision making for biodiversity and society in the context of agriculture, fashion, trade, investment, access to green space, environmental education (etc). Core method-sets drawn upon by the consortium of 17 (European) partners include creative and deliberative methods, serious games, framing and nudging behavioural experiments, alongside traditional social science research methods.

In this role you will critically analyse primary and secondary data, including scientific literature and first-hand accounts from consortium partners associated with the 11 project case studies.

The aim of the role is to advance understanding of how to capture and measure the impact of (social science) research based interventions which seek to transform environmental behaviours and societal relations with nature, exploring the potential influence of a range of structural, intersectional and relational factors/ processes on the effectiveness on the specific methods engaged with through the PLANET4B project, including across a range of different types of research participants. The findings will support the future selection and application of research based interventions aimed at increasing the prioritisation of biodiversity in decision making by a range of public, private and third sector stakeholders.

The findings will inform a range of project outputs including policy workshops, conference presentations, online learning resources, research reports and scientific papers.
