Competitive starting salary range from £59,138.00 up to £62,728.00 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered.

A core part of CECG is the Centre for Advanced Low-carbon Propulsion Systems (C-ALPS). A £50M research facility established to partner with the propulsion system supply chain and accelerate the progression to carbon-zero transport. C-ALPS is the most advanced test facility of its kind in the UK. The 40,000 sq. ft research & test centre is equipped with 70 Sentaurus TCAD licenses, bespoke Inseto magnetic stimulation system, Signatone high voltage probe station, Multisim, dSPACE & environmental test chambers. 

The Role

 

As the Principal Engineer within the centre, you will provide technical leadership and ownership for the delivery of research outputs from complex and demanding projects within the field of PEMD. You will work closely with the theme lead and centre director to develop the research road map, whilst creating and developing both new and existing partnerships with the aim of expanding the centres activities in line with the Centre’s Strategy. 

 

You will work with colleagues in other business areas to establish collaborative and commercial research activities with partner organisations to ensure income targets and KPI’s are met. Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will broaden the CECG research network, liaising with bot industrial and academic partners and sharing contacts. You will support the prioritising of request from our stakeholder ensuring the delivery of our high quality research programmes. 

 

This role also requires you to provide supervision to our research students up to doctoral level of study. 

Qualifications Required

 

You will hold a degree in a relevant engineering / scientific discipline or an equivalent qualification.  

 

 

Our Successful Candidate

 

You will have experience in the delivery of engineering projects with outputs such as development and installation of engineering systems. Your experience will include working in the e-mobility industrial sector, along with previous experience of working within an engineering instrumentation, control and test environment.  

 

You will have experience of developing innovative solutions for development and the deploying these solutions across the business. 

 

Experience or managing and monitoring project budgets especially within a research environment is essential. 

 

The successful candidate will be part of the vibrant CECG research group and will work closely with other researchers and industrial partners in a supportive and collegiate environment. Within this role there will also be opportunities for national and international travel, and collaboration with other research organisations.
