The Role

 

WINN-ORGANIC is a Horizon Europe Innovation Action comprising 19 partners from 9 countries. The project addresses systemic imbalances in the organic food value chain and is working to improve access to and procurement of organic food. By bringing together farmers, communities, researchers, policymakers and the environment, WINN-ORGANIC is facilitating change to build community driven organic food systems. 

 

In this role you will be part of an experienced team of researchers based at Coventry University's Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience working to deliver the WINN-ORGANIC project. This role will require detailed knowledge of UK Food Hubs, specifically in the Tamar Valley region and will involve working closely with Food Hubs to identify the potential for innovations offered within WINN-ORGANIC to fulfil the project’s mission of widening innovations to achieve “organic for all”.

 

You will support the delivery of research projects through data collection, literature reviews and research activities such as fieldwork, surveys and focus groups ensuring high-quality data management, analysis and reporting of qualitative and quantitative data. Contributing to the project delivery, using the appropriate research methods and tools you will support the planning, management and evaluation of the research impact.

 

This job is based at Coventry University's Ryton Organic Gardens, but will primarily comprise fieldwork in the Tamar Valley region, with some travel for annual European project consortium meetings required.

 

Qualifications Required

 

Good degree (1st class or 2.1) in an appropriate subject such as agroecology and environmental science. Or relevant professional experience in a related discipline such as experience with Food Hub work and specifically the Tamar Valley region, equivalent to an honours degree.

Our Successful Candidate

 

The successful candidate will need to be passionate about UK Food Hubs with specific knowledge of the Tamar Valley and be familiar with research methods relevant to agroecology and environmental science. You will be committed to working collaboratively on research development, delivery and dissemination including interdisciplinary or cross-disciplinary research, public engagement, and knowledge exchange.

 

 There will be opportunities to publish conference or journal papers and produce excellent, high-quality publications in peer reviewed journals and present at national/international events. There will be a need to communicate effectively with project stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines, and you will need to be self-motivated and able to take initiative both unsupervised and as part of the team.
