Competitive starting salary range from £37,099 up to £40,521 (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered.

Coventry University’s Centre for E-Mobility and Clean Growth is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to work as part of a team delivering an exciting, collaborative, commercial project, working with Vener Ltd., to develop a sustainable process for green fuel (hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, etc.) production. 

The Role

 

We seek an experienced postdoctoral researcher to work on a commercial project, aiming to develop and optimize a safe, sustainable, and efficient pre-process to produce next generation green fuel. Under the line management supervision and guidance of Dr Rong Lan, and in close collaboration with project partner Vener, you will contribute to dissemination and research activities and prepare reports and deliverables within the project.

 

Nano-catalysts development and characterisation, using techniques such as ICP, XRD, SEM, etc.

 

Electrochemical testing e.g. EIS, CV LSV to understand the catalytic activity and mechanisms.

 

Formulation of electrode, manufacturing of membrane electrode assembly.

 

Set-up the experiments, collect and analyse the results and data under different operational conditions at various temperatures, flow rate, etc.

You will be developing and identifying new research objectives, proposals, and impact activities for your own or joint research while contributing to REF impact rated nationally/internationally excellent.

 

You will apply innovative research methods and extend the research portfolio including research publications. Building internal and external networks for future collaboration, sharing information, and identifying potential sources of funds will play a key part of this role. Contributing to teaching, learning and development programmes as appropriate, you will use research findings to inform curriculum development.

Qualifications Required

 

You should have or be near obtaining a PhD related to chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, electrochemistry, electrolysers, or batteries and be able to demonstrate relevant expertise in basic chemistry lab skills (wet chemistry), materials characterisation and electrochemical tests. If successful, you will join a fast-growing research centre with high levels of industrial engagement. This is an exciting opportunity for you to significantly expand your research skills within the promising area of battery recycling.

Our Successful Candidate

 

A highly motivated Research Fellow with demonstrable knowledge and understanding of materials science and battery technologies.  With an advanced knowledge and demonstratable adherence to all regulations, you will have the ability to develop research objectives, projects, and proposals for your own and joint research.

 

Demonstrable track record in collaborative research projects and high-quality publications in high-profile, peer-reviewed journals along with presentations at national/international events. You will be committed to working collaboratively on research development, delivery and dissemination including interdisciplinary or cross-disciplinary research, public engagement, and knowledge exchange. Expertise in solid-state or wet chemistry, materials development or characterisation, electrochemical techniques and electrolysers assembly and testing would be advantageous.
