The Role
The Centre for Healthcare and Communities is recognised for pioneering research in the areas of health, social, and community care with impact to improve health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
As a Research Fellow, you will be actively contributing to the research strategy and activities within the Centre for Healthcare and Communities with the aim to provide strategic direction, academic leadership and management of research. We are seeking to recruit a Research Fellow, with the key objectives to work with the Senior Leadership Team within the centre and the wider Institute.
As a Research Fellow you will be responsible for the provision of strategic leadership and vision. Developing and leading a team of academic/research staff and post-graduate researchers (PhDs) to deliver research outputs of outstanding quality. Obtaining, planning, and managing the resources required to deliver research projects, and presenting key information to key stakeholders.
Contributing to the wider student experience as well as fostering and developing the relationships and partnerships both in the UK and overseas. While also taking the lead of development research proposals while being highly involved in complex and important negotiations Internally and with external research related bodies.
Qualifications Required
• Master’s degree in epidemiology, medical statistics, data science or mathematics OR a good Honours Degree and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
• PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body is advantageous.
Our Successful Candidate
We are seeking a motivated, experienced, and passionate individual with clinical epidemiology, medical statistics, mathematics, or other related subjects’ background who will use their expertise to generate evidence-based projects, grant applications, high quality research outputs and practice improvement.
They will have evidence of embedded clinical academic research and be able to meet the requirements of the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
You will be driven by a commitment to promoting the values that underpin the discipline and applied research activities and to build and preserve a the high-profile national or international for the university.
You will also have a strong ability to teach a range of CPD undergraduate and postgraduate students.
In return you will be part of a facility supporting and developing a high-performing team to deliver individual and team outputs and targets, while promoting collaboration and open two-way communication.
