The Role
This part-time post (0.8FTE) is attached to the EU funded research project “ROOTED: Co-creating Landed Community Kitchens as care and equity-centred urban service infrastructures for sustainable food system transformation”, which examines and supports the emergence, governance and socio-ecological significance of Landed Community Kitchens across diverse geographical contexts.
You will contribute to the conceptual development, empirical research and collaborative outputs of the project, working closely with the Principal Investigator and wider project team. You will play an active role in co-designing and delivering engaging project activities, including workshops, online events and in-person gatherings, and in supporting knowledge exchange across academic and practitioner audiences.
The role will involve travel to a range of project meetings and field sites, both within the UK and internationally. You will also contribute to research outputs, reporting requirements and communication and dissemination activities, supporting the overall intellectual and organisational coherence of the ROOTED project.
Qualifications Required
PhD (or equivalent) or professional experience equivalent to a PhD demonstrating an ability to carry-out independent research with a 1st Class/2.1 Degree in Human Geography, International Development or cognate discipline.
Our Successful Candidate
We particularly welcome candidates with expertise in one or more of the project’s core thematic areas: feminist agroecology; somatic and reparative work within grassroots (agroecological and food justice) movements; socio-ecological and popular education pedagogies; trans-local food and farming initiatives. Knowledge of languages, cultures and farming movements across different EU regions will be advantageous, especially familiarity with Eastern European contexts (including Hungary and Romania).
You will be expected to demonstrate experience of participatory and collaborative research methodologies (including facilitation, visualisation and sociocracy methods) and a capacity to work reflexively and ethically with community partners.
