The Role
The Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR) is looking to recruit a postdoctoral Research Fellow to undertake research and play a lead role in supporting the scientific delivery of the two Horizon Europe funded projects DAISY (DigitAl, technologIcal and Social innovation mixes enabling transformation for biodiversity and equity) and OneSTOP (OneBiosecurity Systems and Technology for People, Places and Pathways).
Both projects are highly interdisciplinary and require a candidate able to work across social and natural science related topics and with an interest in biological invasions, citizen science, stakeholder involvement, social innovation, nature-society relations and novel digital technologies.
The post holder will be required to assist with setting up and coordinating a living lab in Coventry for testing various invasive species detection and monitoring technologies. The work also involves engagement with local stakeholders and the public in citizen science projects run within the living lab and beyond by project partners across Europe.
This includes organising and facilitation of stakeholder workshops, qualitative research interviews, designing and analysing surveys exploring public awareness and attitudes towards invasive species and their management.
Further tasks include data analysis, policy and behavioural research-based intervention, writing research papers and presenting results at conferences and stakeholder events.
This post is part time, fixed term contract.
Qualifications Required
• PhD or equivalent (where equivalence is having evidence of a submitted thesis by the closing date for applications and award within Probation).
• or professional experience equivalent to a PhD demonstrating an ability to carry-out independent research.
• Good degree (1st class or 2.1) in an appropriate subject such as Ecology, Geography, Sociology, Biology.
Our Successful Candidate
Our ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced Research Fellow with prior research experience related to ecology, biodiversity and/ or environmental change with expert knowledge of discipline in a field relevant to DAISY and OneSTOP.
You will be research sufficient to produce excellent, high-quality publications and to communicate the results of their work to the wider public and demonstrate previous experience of active involvement in research at university level.
