Competitive starting salary range from £37,161 up to £42,245 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

As a DevOps Senior Engineer, you will provide expert technical support, development and delivery across all application products and services deployed on behalf of the University Group.

 

You will collaborate with other specialists to ensure advice is appropriate to the needs of the University Group and to ensure the successful resolution of incidents and requests.

 

You will actively maintain knowledge across all applications, with a strong motivation to improve expertise and to upskill those around you. You will also produce and maintain technical documentation for new and existing solutions as a resource for colleagues within IT Services.

 

In this role there will be opportunities to engage in more strategic project work to meet the Universities digital vision.

Our Successful Candidate

 

Provide an expert level of support for systems actively assisting in the resolution of incidents and problems.  Provide and maintain technical documentation for new and existing solutions as a resource for colleagues within IT Services Build, test and maintain the infrastructure and tools to allow for the speedy development and release of software (CI/CD).  Working on ways to improve and automate development and support processes.  Responsible for developing and building IT solutions.  Testing and examining code written by others and analysing results.  Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.  Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and ‘fixes’.  Working with other software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

 

Key skills for the role include:

 

•    Strong problem-solving skills providing innovative, creative and sustainable solutions.
•    Proficiency/Experience/Understanding in one or more general-purpose programming languages (i.e C#, Java, Python).
•    High Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell, Python.
•    Experience of CI/CD Implementations i.e. Azure DevOps, Jenkins
•    Understanding of Salesforce metadata, with experience or exposure to Salesforce CI/CD tools (optional).
•    Fluency in Azure CLI and Azure Cloud Shell/Azure Power Shell Experience of monitoring and supporting deployed systems, infrastructure and Azure Cloud components.
•    Experience of building automated CI/CD pipelines with tools such as; SonarQube, Fortify, Selenium, etc.
•    Excellent team working and communication skills.
•    Good attention to detail
•    Excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
