The Role

 

The Senior Research Technician supports, facilitates and contributes to the effective management of the laboratories in the research centre, by providing technical support to postgraduate students and academic staff; to assist with the operation, organisation, maintenance, safety and security of laboratory spaces.
 

This includes demonstrating use of equipment and ensuring equipment is regularly maintained. The post will also provide a comprehensive programme of skills instruction and competence.

Our Successful Candidate

 

As a Senior Research Technician you will be working at the forefront of research into some of the most challenging environmental problems and be will be familiar with using, maintaining and repairing complex analytical equipment, liaising with suppliers and researchers to ensure continuity of service in our research.
 

We require an experienced qualified analyst with proven capabilities in organic analyses, use of gas and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. You will assist in the method development along with senior researchers and postgraduate researchers, also facilitating the training and development of postgraduates in the use of equipment in their studies.
 

Other duties include giving support to academic colleagues in the feasibility of research proposals, participating in the writing of relevant sections of research publications, maintenance of health and safety systems, working with the Head Laboratory Technician and operations colleagues to ensure laboratory systems are supported; such as maintenance activities, procurement and taking advantage of training and development opportunities.
