The Role
This role is focused working with employer clients external to Coventry University across a diverse portfolio of industries. Through its commercial recruitment services division, the role of Senior Recruitment Consultant is primarily focused on driving external commercial activity and encompasses a full 360° recruitment approach. This includes extensive sales development and managing employer client relationships, overseeing the end-to-end vacancy and candidate lifecycle, and delivering high-quality recruitment outcomes. The position requires a proactive approach to business development, including identifying and securing new client relationships, alongside engaging, and attracting suitably qualified candidates to match to client vacancies.
A key aspect of the role involves managing and delivering against an individual income budget, while aligning closely with broader business objectives.
As a senior member of the team, you will play an important role in supporting colleagues, mentoring, and contributing to overall team performance, and the further success of the business.
The role also involves collaboration across Group-wide business development activities, fostering strong and productive relationships with stakeholders and contributing to wider employer and enterprise engagement.
Qualifications Required
- Educated to Degree/equivalent qualification or qualified by sector experience.
Our Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will have significant experience operating within a commercial employment agency environment, with a strong track record in full 360° recruitment delivering both permanent and temporary staffing solutions. They will be able to demonstrate success within a sales-led and target-driven setting, including achievement of revenue targets, KPIs, business development activity, client relationship management, and vacancy pipeline delivery.
Applicants must have practical experience across the full recruitment lifecycle, including candidate sourcing, attraction, screening, assessment, placement, and post-placement management, alongside highly developed sourcing and engagement skills using LinkedIn, social media, and recruitment technologies. Experience negotiating fees, margins, and contractual terms, together with preparing and delivering client-facing proposals or presentations, is essential.
The role requires strong working knowledge of the legislative and compliance framework governing employment agencies and employment businesses, including the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations, Agency Workers Regulations, and relevant data protection requirements, with practical experience managing compliance associated with both permanent recruitment and temporary agency workers.
Candidates will possess strong commercial awareness, consultative and influencing skills, and the ability to communicate professionally with a wide range of stakeholders. They will also demonstrate a high level of digital capability, awareness of regional labour market conditions, and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, commercially focused recruitment environment.
