The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health delivers an extensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses for professionals working in health and social care settings including; nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, paramedic science, operating department practice, diagnostic radiography, clinical psychology and public health. We also have a large portfolio of CPD courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including Advanced Clinical Practice, Independent prescribing and Global Healthcare Management.

The Role

 

As Senior Teaching Fellow in dietetics you will undertake teaching and course coordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. Senior Teaching Fellows lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams. Based within the School of Health and Care you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant evidence and professional context are embedded in modules and courses

 

Duties include:

  • Lead the curation, adaptation, design and development of module and course teaching materials.
  • Undertake on a key leadership role of either course director, admissions tutor or placements lead.
  • Teaching on modules at HE levels 4,5,6 and 7 in relevant academic subject areas delivering a variety of types of student learning sessions and supporting students
  • Lead teams of teaching staff.
  • Ensure that students have an effective learning experience by providing high quality academic guidance and advice and by enhancing their retention/progression and employability.
  • Work effectively as a team member and team leader, contributing to committees and working groups.

Qualifications Required

 

  • Currently registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a dietitian
  • Master’s degree in an appropriate subject, or if a registered dietitian, a good honours degree and current HCPC registration as a dietitian
  • A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education, including supporting students
  • PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous

Our Successful Candidate

 

You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in dietetics with the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning. An experienced team leader with good level of digital fluency, you will have experience using creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching using a VLE. 

 

Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience in the development and enhancement of an ‘active learning’ pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area. As a global education provider, high levels of cultural awareness with experience of learner’s cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential. Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to generate and follow through innovative ideas, work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
