Salary

Competitive starting salary range from £44,965 up to £51,314 (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered.

The Role

 

As Senior Teaching Fellow in Electrical Engineering you will undertake teaching in the Digital System Design area which includes FPGA based system design, System on Chip design and embedded system design etc. You will co-ordinate course while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. Senior Teaching Fellows lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams.

 

Based within the Faculty of School of Future Transport Engineering you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.

 

Duties include:

  • Lead the curation, adaptation, design and development of module and course teaching materials including Curriculum development.
  • Teach on modules and courses at Higher Education levels 4,5,6 and 7 in relevant academic subject areas, delivering a variety of learning sessions and supporting students as appropriate through informal and formal communication throughout teaching semesters.  
  • Lead teams of teaching staff including the oversight of module teaching teams, you will uphold high standards of academic integrity in all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment. 
  • Lead on moderation and quality assurance of appropriate module assessment including the oversight of marking teams; submission and upload of student marks within stipulated turn round periods. 
  • The preparation and dissemination of both generic and specific formative and summative student feedback. Review assessment and feedback processes and student communication loops on modules at least once a year.  

Qualifications Required

 

Master’s degree in an appropriate subject OR (if from a professional practice background) a good Honors Degree and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership. A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education

You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Electrical Engineering with the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.

 

An experienced team leader with good level of digital fluency, you will have experience using creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching using a VLE.

 

Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience in the development and enhancement of an ‘active learning’ pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area.

 

As a global education provider, high levels of cultural awareness with experience of learner’s cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
