The Role
We are looking to recruit an EAP Tutor experienced in language test delivery to oversee the administration of the Coventry University English Test (CUET). The CUET is an English language proficiency test delivered in person in various international locations as part of relationship building with partner institutions and overall student recruitment strategy for the University.
The postholder will manage a team of markers, including leading standardisation of marking. They will liaise with the CU Recruitment & Admissions team (CURA) to allocate existing test materials to particular test events, make these materials available to invigilators under the agreed procedures to maintain security, and manage the allocation of completed tests for marking to the marking team. They will be responsible for ensuring marking is completed and returned to CURA within agreed timelines, for moderation of all marking, and will deal with any issues around test breaches or academic misconduct. They will also train the in-person test invigilators in the agreed test procedures, including maintaining test security.

- 18.5 hours per week (0.5fte)
- Contract dates: 5 October to 18 December 2026, with the potential for further contracts for key student recruitment cycles in 2027.
- Remote work – the successful candidate will not need to attend the Coventry campus but will need to be based within the UK and be available remotely during working hours to liaise with stakeholders and markers.
Qualifications Required
- Undergraduate degree
- Diploma level qualification and/or Masters in a relevant subject (e.g. TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Language Testing)
- Native or near native speaker (IELTS 8.0 or above) standard of written and spoken English
Our Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will have an understanding of secure test processes and procedures, as well as language testing principles. Experience of managing secure language test delivery, standardisation and moderation of marking, interpreting English language descriptors, and dealing with academic misconduct within language test settings
They will have led teaching or marking teams previously and will have experience of cross-team working and liaison with stakeholders in other areas of an education institution. They will have strong organisational skills to manage marking for multiple test events within a specific testing cycle, as well as strong attention to detail and demonstrable accuracy in data reporting. They will also be thoroughly familiar with processes around data security, confidentiality and GDPR.
