This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Lecturer (Teaching) in Adult Nursing.
The Role
As an Assistant Lecturer (Teaching) in Adult Nursing you will undertake teaching and assessment activities and act as a practice education link tutor to support to our placement partnership within London and Greater London areas.
Based onsite at Coventry University in London, Vauxhall Campus, you will work closely with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.
Duties include:
- Teaching on modules and courses at HE levels 4, 5, 6 and 7 in relevant academic subject areas. Teaching will predominantly be related to clinical nursing skills delivery.
- Supporting the design, implementation, ratification and quality assurance processes related to student assessment.
- Upholding high standards of academic integrity in all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment
- The preparation and dissemination of both generic and specific formative and summative student feedback.
- Conducting student placement visits as a link tutor across our London and Greater London practice placements.
- Undertaking the role of Academic Assessor
- The development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.
- The development and enhancement of an active learning pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area.
Qualifications Required
- NMC Registration in Nursing (Current and Active) as an adult nurse is essential for this role.
- Practice Assessor training.
- An Honours Degree in an appropriate/ relevant subject area with professional qualification.
- A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held.
- A PhD, or a Master's Degree would be advantageous.
Our Successful Candidate
You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Adult Nursing either within Higher Education or within the clinical practice environment.
You will have strong evidence of supporting student learning within the clinical environment as a practice assessor and have a good working knowledge of the NMC SSSA Standards.
You can demonstrate a high standard of teaching, learning and student engagement consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.
You will have a passion for sharing knowledge and supporting students in their learning journey, both in clinical practice and in the classroom, with the ability to work flexibly to meet learner needs.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience supporting, enhancing and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy with evidence in proactively supporting student success.
As a global education provider, experience and awareness of learners cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
