Our people are key to our success, and each role contributes to the Group’s ongoing progress in communities around the world.

Coventry University’s National Institute of Teaching & Education (NITE) is a global provider of postgraduate and undergraduate degrees, training and professional development for teaching assistants, teachers and school/college leaders.  Our courses innovate in their flexibility and blend online and in-person delivery with school-based practice and a highly regarded tutorial programme.

The Role

We are looking for an inspiring and committed University Lead Mentor to join our NITE team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the development of future teachers while working within NITE (The National Institute of Teaching and Education), part of the Coventry University Group.

In this role, you will support and shape high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will work collaboratively with Heads of Delivery, Senior Lead Mentors, and course teams, playing a vital role in creating an outstanding and supportive experience for trainee teachers.

You will build strong professional relationships with mentors in partner schools, engaging in thoughtful and constructive conversations that support trainee progress. You will balance the needs and perspectives of trainees, mentors, and schools, while aligning your work with NITE’s strategic priorities, the DfE Initial Teacher Training (ITT) criteria, and NITE’s training curriculum. Ongoing support from Senior Lead Mentors will be available as you grow into the role.

Our Successful Candidate

You will be a qualified and committed education professional, holding a good honours degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You will feel confident presenting to and working with other professionals, bringing clarity, enthusiasm, and credibility to your work.

You will enjoy supporting others to develop, with experience of mentoring, coaching, or teaching fellow professionals. You will have supported trainee teachers or early‑career colleagues and understand the importance of high-quality mentoring in building confidence, skill, and professional identity.

Above all, you will be motivated by the opportunity to influence teacher education at a strategic level, work collaboratively across partnerships, and make a lasting impact on the next generation of teachers.
