Competitive starting salary range from £32,942 up to £37,087 (dependent on experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Lecturer (Teaching) in Clinical Nursing Skills. 

The Role

 

This Role is Based in Scarborough

 

As an Assistant Lecturer (Teaching) in Clinical Nursing Skills you will undertake teaching and assessment activities while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional course and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. 

 

Based onsite at Coventry University in Scarborough, you will work closely with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.

 

Duties include:

  • Leading the curation, adaptation, design and development of course teaching materials. 

 

  • Teaching on modules and courses at HE levels 4, 5, 6 and 7 in relevant academic subject areas.

 

  • Supporting the design, implementation, ratification and quality assurance processes related to student assessment.  

 

  • Upholding high standards of academic integrity in all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment

 

  • The preparation and dissemination of both generic and specific formative and summative student feedback. 

 

  • Supporting our delivery of simulated practice learning activities. 

 

  • Undertaking the role of Academic Assessor 

 

  • Supporting course recruitment activities such as interviews and open days.

 

  • The development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning. 

Qualifications Required

 

  • NMC Registration in Nursing (Current and Active) is essential for this role.
  • An Honours Degree in an appropriate/ relevant subject area with professional qualification.
  • Practice Assessor Training.
  • A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held.
  •  A PhD, or a Master's Degree would be advantageous.

Our Successful Candidate

 

You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Nursing either within Higher Education or within the clinical practice environment. You will have extensive knowledge and evidence of practice in a wide range of clinical nursing skills.


You can demonstrate a high standard of teaching, learning and student engagement consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.  

 

You will have a passion for sharing knowledge and supporting students in their learning journey, both in clinical practice and in the classroom, with the ability to work flexibly to meet learner needs. 

 

Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience supporting, enhancing and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy with evidence in proactively supporting student success.

 

As a global education provider, experience and awareness of learners cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

 

Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
