The Role

 

We are currently looking to appoint an Hourly Paid Tutor in IT with a background in Computing Science and/or Cyber Security or a combination of these specialisations, to contribute to the provision of high-quality teaching within CU Scarborough campus. The successful candidate will join our highly regarded and established team of academics, delivering on our portfolio of undergraduate programmes within our modern facilities. 


You will be responsible for providing high quality and effective learning through the provision of teaching, curriculum development and tutorials, using an innovative approach which focused on a world-class student experience  that  is sustainably offered to current and future students and aligned to both employer and student demands. 


You will also be responsible for the development and delivery of learning, teaching, assessment and marking of the course, including the updating of the module material and ensuring all course support material is updated on the virtual learning environment. 


You will demonstrate good practice in learning, teaching and assessment and will use these skills to engage students, stimulate interest in the subject and encourage class attendance -validating the value class participation provides. You will provide students with an effective learning experience by providing high quality academic guidance and advice. 

Qualifications Required

 

Applicants ideally have a Master’s degree in an appropriate subject OR (if from a professional practice background) a good Honours Degree and appropriate professional qualification and/or membership


A teaching qualification or being willing to undertake a teaching qualification if not already qualified is essential for this role. Coventry University offers academic support and professional development support and provides the opportunity for staff without a recognised teaching qualification to undertake the PGCE. Our Successful Candidate

 

You will have experience of teaching within the Higher Education sector, delivering across a broad programme areas but hold advanced subject knowledge to facilitate teaching and learning in specific aspects of the subject. 


You will have a clear passion for the subject area you teach and a strong motivation to facilitate the learning of others, along with an understanding of the needs of diverse student groups and student-centric approaches.  


Experience in producing learning and teaching material for online use to support the course you deliver would be advantageous.

 
As a global education provider, experience and awareness of students’cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
